Checklist for Travellers
Direct Line has partnered with the Know Before You Go campaign to ensure you are fully prepared before you go away on a trip. We’ve pulled together this handy checklist for travellers to make sure your trip goes smoothly.
Get travel insurance
Make sure you take out comprehensive travel insurance that covers everything you want to do whilst you’re away.
If travelling in Europe, get a free European European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You can apply online or find out more information about Healthcare abroad on the Department of Health website – but remember, you’ll still need travel insurance.
Check if you need vaccinations
Fit For Travel can show you what vaccinations or medication you might need or you could ask your GP. If you’re already on medication, make sure you have enough to last you for your trip, and take a copy of your prescription just in case.
Get your documents in order
Check your passport will be valid for at least six months after the date of your return. Make photocopies of your passport, tickets and insurance documents, or store online copies on a secure data storage site.
Find out how your travellers cheques and credit cards can be replaced if lost or stolen, and take emergency numbers with you.
