If your automobile is on the road, you will need to take out some kind of insurance. Direct Line has a range of automobile insurance policies to choose from.

Automobile insurance policies offered by Direct Line include Third Party Fire & Theft and Comprehensive:

• Third Party Fire & Theft covers you if other people claim against you for injury or damage to their automobile or property, if your automobile is stolen or if it is damaged by fire.
• Comprehensive Cover is as Third Party Fire & Theft, plus it also gives accidental damage cover to your automobile, along with cover for personal belongings, medical expenses and personal accident cover (subject to selected levels of cover).

You can view policy documents and summary details for both types of automobile insurance online. Direct Line also offers Third Party Only automobile insurance. All new automobile insurance comes complete with an accident action pack, access to a 24-hour accident helpline and a 24-hour windscreen helpline. Plus you can opt for additional legal protection, which covers legal costs of up to £100,000. Our uninsured driver promise also means that if you make a claim for an accident that is not your fault – and the driver that hits you is not insured – you will not lose your no claims discount or have to pay any excess (comprehensive customers only terms and conditions).

Automobile Insurance from Direct Line is also a good deal better with an extended range of No Claims and Multi-Car discounts – use your no claims discount on your second car, for example, and we’ll give you 10% discount on the additional vehicle plus 5% off every year there after. Insure your second car with us and we’ll give you a further discount on top of that as long as the second car will only be driven by you. Plus, if you take out automobile insurance with us you can get 25% off our top level breakdown and exclusive discount off our home insurance when you buy online.

If you need to claim, it’s good to know that 95% of our claims can be agreed over the phone. If you use one of our approved network repairers to deal with damage to your automobile, we’ll also pick it up and deliver it back to you, cleaned inside and out.
